Our Mission
Safe Haven 4 Pets provides an alternative to pet abandonment, by offering boarding, foster care and pet sitting services, for pets of owners experiencing temporary hardships.
Our History
Safe Haven 4 Pets (SH4P) was conceived by Lucinda Shore while living in Pensacola, Florida, after Hurricane Katrina and seeing how hard it was for people to lose their pets due to the disaster or due to deployment. "There seems to be a need for an organization that can take care of peoples' pets while they recover from a disaster or hardship that provides an alternative to be abandonment so they can reunite with their beloved companion. This touched my heart, and I began creating Safe Haven 4 Pets."
The recent state of the economy has only increased the number of people experiencing hardships, thus broadening our scope of work to those with "hardships". "I have witnessed the healing power of the human/animal bond. People benefit greatly from their pets' unconditional love and get better faster." After working hard to build SH4P's business plan showing how our program can help the community and relieve the government of a the burden of pet abandonment, SH4P achieved our 501(C)3 status (July of 2009).
