Statement of Career Goals:
Upon entering the Web Design program at the Art Institute of Atlanta I already had several years of interactive work related experience. However, up to that point my experience was primarily in the web site product and project management area. When I entered the program my primary goal was to broaden my skill-set and gain a hands-on understanding of web design. This deep understanding, as well as many hours of hands-on experience, has given me the ability to innovate, troubleshoot, and be a more effective manager of interactive products and projects on a daily basis. In this regard I have already achieved my goal.
Now that I am close to finishing the web design program I'd like to start a freelance web design business. By taking on freelance web design work I hope to provide my family with an additional revenue source and keep my coding skills and design skills up-to-date and marketable. Keeping my skills up-to-date will be a key factor for me in the event I ever need to fall back on them in the future. In these turbulent economic times you never know when you'll need to be able to change career paths.
Last but not least, I really have a passion for web design and have always wanted to be able to design and code web sites myself. My coursework at the Art Institute of Atlanta is extremely valuable and enjoyable, and is only the beginning of my involvement in the web design world.

During the completion of this assignment in IMD215 we were asked to redesign a non-profit organization's web site. The assignment was completed under a time constraint to mimic a real world scenario. The Founder of the organization expressed an interest in having a fun and playful theme for the new site design.
